Savannah South KOA Campground Review

Savannah South KOA

We stopped at Savannah South KOA on the way to the Florida Key's. This is a frequent stop for us since it is a 5 hour trip from North Carolina. This campground offers a consistent experience, easy access, and friendly service. Sites are a fairly close together, but the location and wildlife in the lake offers a unique experience.

For those that want to rent a cabin, there are several facing the lake, and they are building several more.

Getting there and setting up (5 out of 5)

Easy access off I-95 and convenient to gas, food, etc. Setup was easy with an escort to our site - as is common with many KOA campgrounds.

Interestingly, our GPS told us to go 5 miles past the actual location. Since we saw it coming up, we decided to skip the extra miles.

Power (5 out of 5)

We didn't have to use our Hughes Autoformer at all during the trip. Voltage was around 116-120 consistently.

Water (5 out of 5)

Water at the site had a back flow preventer and a splitter at the faucet. Good water pressure.

Dumping (5 out of 5)

Full hookups and we were able to screw in to the sewer connection for a good secure connection.

Experience (3 out of 5)

Staff was pleasant - free DVD movies in the store.

Pool overlooking the lake

We didn't use the pool, but it looked inviting.

Swan taking a morning bath

Lots of swans swimming in the lake makes for an interesting view. Very pretty around the lake.

Sites are pretty close together - but we expected this.

We only stayed one night on the way to Florida, so we didn't care that the sites were close together. That said, there was good grass and a few trees around.
